Kringla Bakeri

The Epcot International  Food & Wine Festival officially kicked off this weekend and with all of the excitement surrounding the Festival foods on offer, it’s easy to forget that the World Showcase is jam-packed with lots of year round treats just as worthy of mention.  So this weekend, I’d like to give a tip of the hat to a few of my favorite places to grab a sweet treat while traversing the park starting with Kringla Bakeri og Kafe.  You’ll find this delightful little bakery in the Norway pavilion near Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and the Frozen Ever After attraction making it the perfect place to make a pit stop before tackling the long line that the Frozen ride is known for!  To give you an idea of the amazing treats you’ll find, here are 5 of our favorites:

Kringla Treats

1. Sweet Pretzels with Almonds – A pretzel that’s sweet? – Yes please! This lovely snack consists of a sweet raisin pretzel glazed with icing and covered with toasted almonds.  It’s a pretty good size as well so perfect as a sharing snack.  For those needing their chocolate fix, there’s also a version featuring a chocolate glaze rather than almonds.  Either of these can be yours for $4.49 or 1 Snack Credit.

2. Lefse – This treat is a traditional Norwegian flatbread made with potatoes, flour, butter and cream.   Kringla’s version uses a sweet cinnamon butter to give it a comforting taste.  Its a simple snack but perfect at tiding you over until dinner!  With a price tag of $2.99 or 1 Snack Credit it’s also a bargain.

3. Berry Cream Puff – The name says it all.  This extra sweet treat combines puff pastry, whipped cream and fresh berries for a delicious snack any time of day!  The cream puff is also pretty large so grab an extra fork and invite your friends or family to tuck in.  The cost is $5.19 or 1 Snack Credit.

4. Troll Horn – My personal favorite, this horn is comprised of a sugar coated pastry shell with a whipped cream and cloudberry jam filling.  Never heard of a cloudberry? It’s a delicious fruit from Norway that I think tastes a lot like a raspberry! – Delicious.  Give one a try next to you’re wandering the World Showcase.  The cost for a Troll Horn is $3.99 or 1 Snack Credit.

5. School Bread – And we end on the Kringla treat that has become a bit of a Disney cult classic.  The school bread is one of those Epcot treats that really eats like a meal and features a sweet cardamom bun filled to the brim with vanilla creme custard and topped with a heap of toasted coconut.  It is nothing short of divine.  Get your’s for $3.49 or 1 Snack Credit.
It addition Kringla offers a nice array of coffee, boozy coffees, and soft drinks to go with your snacks.  So when the lines for the food kiosks get a bit too long or you want to indulge in some year round Epcot eats give Kringla a go.  Your tastebuds will thank you!
