6 Downtown Disney Businesses That Will Be Impacted By Disneyland's Plans For A New Hotel 1

The Disney-sphere has been abuzz today with the news that Disneyland will be getting a brand new 4 Diamond Hotel that is expected to open in 2021.  Ambitions are high for this new 700 room property which will take up 17 acres on the West Side of Downtown Disney and will include dining, entertainment, a dedicated monorail platform inside the hotel, a lounge offering views of the nightly fireworks displays and gardens with beautiful views of Downtown Disney.  The new area will also be designed to link up Disneyland’s three on-site hotels to make the area feel more integrated.

However, trying to find the 17 acres in an already very crowded Anaheim area has guests wondering what will need to be cleared to make way for this exciting new project.  A piece that recently ran in the Orange County Register sheds a bit of light on the topic and has highlighted 6 business likely to face closure or relocation.

The businesses most likely to be affected are as follows:

  • Rainforest Cafe
  • ESPN Zone
  • AMC Downtown Disney 12 Theatres
  • Earl of Sandwich
  • Westside Starbucks

According to the article, Disney officials have started to reach out to these tenants regarding the resort’s plans.  It is believed that some of them will be incorporated into the resort’s dining, shopping and entertainment line-up but there’s no official word as of yet as to which businesses will be in or out.
The project is expected to get underway in 2018 and to be completed in 2021.
