Fathers Day Ideas

With Father’s Day weekend finally upon us, its time to pay tribute to all those Disney-loving dads out there.  Whether you’ve got a father that loves a good thrill ride, a nice glass of wine or a bit of adventure, Disney World is the perfect playground for to spoil all those dads we hold so near and dear. Here’s 6 of our favorite ways to show all those amazing unique father’s out there just how much we care!

Disney Dads

1. For the Wine Connoisseur Dad – For a dad that loves his reds and whites, why not take him over to Epcot to enjoy the World Showcase Wine Walk.  Its one of those hidden Disney gems that you won’t see readily advertised but provides a perfect way to pamper those wine lovers.  This self-guided tour is perfect for wine lovers would love to spend a day sampling food and drink from the different countries in the World Showcase and its premise is simple:  You pay in advance for both red and white wines at three different countries (Italy, Germany and France). In order to participate, guests just need to show up at one of the following Wine Walk locations: Entoeca Castello (Italy), France Aux Vins de France , Weinkeller- Germany.  Show up at these locations, present your passport (with receipt) and you will be given a 2 oz glass of both a red wine and white wine at each location.  So that is 6 drinks for and only at a cost of $20.00 per participant!

Disney Dads

2. For the Dad That’s A Kid at Heart – Who says that children should have all the fun?  If you have a dad that is really a big kid at heart then why not treat him to a fun makeover at The Pirate’s League located next to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland.  Unlike the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique which does princess makeovers for children only,  The Pirates League accommodates scallywags of all ages.  One of my father’s favorite Disney memories is getting surprised with a makeover during a visit we took years ago.  He still talks about wandering the parks for hours in his pirate finery and getting a lot of attention along the way (which he loved of course).  For those with Memory Maker , dad will also get treated to a mini photo shoot that will have you laughing for years to come (trust me). Packages start at $39 and go up to $84.  Reservations must be made in advance at 407.WDW.STYLE.

Special treats for dads

3. For the Foodie Dad – If they way to your dad’s heart is through is tummy then there’s no shortage of delightful places to dine Disney-style.  However for an extra special treat, why not treat dad to a culinary adventure visiting the amazing eateries of Walt Disney World’s monorail resorts. Disney recently unveiled a new offering dubbed the Highway in the Sky Dine Around.  For $160 per person,  the adventure starts at 5:45 pm on select evenings at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  Guests are treated to an appetizer and cocktail at The Wave…of American Flavors before being whisked away to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a tropical array of drinks and small plates.  Then it’s off to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa where guests can feast on a main course selection at Citricos. The evening concludes where it started, at the Contemporary Resort where guests enjoy desserts, cordials and coffee while watching the Happily Ever After fireworks from a private viewing deck!  Advanced reservations are essential and can be made via My Disney Experience or by calling 407.WDW.DINE

Special Treats for Dads
4. For the Thrill-Seeking Dad –  If your dad’s idea of an ideal day at Disney World is cramming in as many thrill rides as possible then there’s an extra little treat that you can include in your Disney plans that makes it easy for him to get to his favorite rides at each park a lot faster.  As a special little luxury, Disney offers an Express Transportation service that is perfect for park hoppers.  Priced at $19 for a one day pass or $29 for a multi-day pass, the express bus operates from 10 am until park close each day and allows you to bypass the long lines, and parking lots by dropping guests off right in the middle of the action.   Each park has kiosks where guests can be picked up and dropped off.  The locations are as follows:
  • Magic Kingdom – in Tomorrowland near Space Ranger Spin
  • Epcot – Just east of Spaceship Earth
  • Hollywood Studios – by Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster
  • Animal Kingdom – near Kilimanjaro Safaris
It’s perfect for those that want to visit more than one park each day.  Guests can purchase the service at the entrance to the theme parks or at any Guest Services location.
Disney World Treats for Dads
5. For the Star Wars Loving Dad – If The Force is strong with your dad then give him the ultimate Star-Wars themed treat.  Disney offers a 7-hour tour designed specifically for Star Wars fans which includes a screening of  Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, VIP access to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues, a Star Wars themed dinner at Backlot Express, meet and greets with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren, a guided tour of Star Wars Launch Bay and tickets and VIP views of the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular with a pre-show dessert party. Tickets for the tour are $121.12 per person and must be booked in advance at 407.WDW.Tour.
Cool Things For Dads
6. For the Dad that Loves Cars and Gadgets –  For many dads (and I include mine in this) it doesn’t get any cooler than a classic convertible car that turns into a boat!  The Boathouse at Disney Springs has made this dream a reality.   For $125.00 guests are accompanied by their own Car Captain in an Ampihicars with seating for up to three additional guests.   It is the only place in the world to ride these amazing vintage vehicles which certainly gives dad bragging rights.    Tours are available daily from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.and need to be booked in advance from 10 am – 10pm.  Reservations should be made in advance by calling: 407.939.2628.
So whether you’re hitting the parks for Father’s Day, heading to Disney during dad’s birthday or just want to find a way to say thank you to dad for all he’s done (including saving scrimping and driving to give you the Disney vacation of your dreams), surprise him with one of the adventures listed above.
