Disneyland Eats

For those new to the Disneyland planning game, knowing what places to pop into for a snack or a quick bite can be a bit of trial and error.  We’ve found during our visits to the theme park, that we have our clear favorites when traversing the parks.  That’s why we thought we’d give you this little crash course.  Here is our list of 8 go-to Disney eateries and a signature item that you’ll find at each.  Be sure to jot down your favorites before visiting the park this year.

1. Bengal Barbecue – (pictured) We’re pretty fond of this Adventureland eatery when we’re looking for a quick yet delicious meal to tide us over. The Jungle Skewers are our go-to item and you’ll find them in several different varieties including chicken, spicy beef, bacon wrapped asparagus or fresh vegetables. With most skewers costing between $4- $6 this is a great meal option that won’t break the bank.

Breadbowl Soups

2. Harbour Galley –  Consider this waterfront dining on the go! This Critter Country quick service location is known for their amazing bread bowl soups.  Clam chowder and cheddar broccoli bread bowls are menu staples.  They have also been know to introduce specialty or seasonal soups through the year.  In addition you’ll also find salads, sandwiches and a decent lobster roll.  The soups will set you back $10.99 but its a hearty treat that will definitely curb that hunger.

3. Market House – There is a definite reason why this Main Street U.S.A cafe is a must-do as soon as we arrive at Disneyland each morning – Starbucks! Coffee lovers can fuel-up here and you’ll find all the familiar favorites from macchiatos and lattes  to smoothies and Frappuccinos. In addition, Market House serves up a nice array of baked goods to accompany your coffee as well as breakfast and lunch items.

4. Mint Julep Bar – If there’s one snack we crave during every Disneyland visit, it is the incredible beignets being served up at this New Orleans Square eatery.  Fresh Mickey-shaped beignets come in the standard powdered-sugar variety just like you’d get in the Big Easy.  They also introduce seasonal flavors throughout the year. You’ll find everything from blackberry and peppermint to lemon (pictured above).  The beignets are sold in orders of 3 for $4.49 or 6 for $7.49.

5. Tiki Juice Bar – Speaking of snacks, most Disney visitors whether its first timers or seasoned veterans will agree that the Dole Whip is the quintessential Disney treat and you’ll find it here!  Located just outside the Enchanted Tiki Room in Aventureland, this counter service location also offers pineapple spears and fruit bowls. Guests can enjoy the Pineapple soft serve for $4.99 or in float form with pineapple juice (our favorite) for $5.99.

6. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe – What Tiki Juice Bar is to Dole Whips, Jolly Holiday is to macarons.  If you’re a lover of this sweet treat you’ll definitely want to stop by this Main Street U.S.A cafe to find out what seasonal macaron they have on offer.  They pair perfectly with the nice array of coffees and teas on offer and the outdoor seating makes this the perfect place to make a pit stop and people watch.

7. Red Rockett’s Pizza Port –  If you’re kids are anything like mine then you’ll understand that no matter where we are, there’s always someone wanting pizza.  That’s the specialty of this quick service restaurant at the foot of Space Mountain.   This eatery offers a sizable pizza by the slice for $8.49 or you can order a variety of whole pies for your family for $39.99.  They also offer a range of salads and pasta dishes like spaghetti and meatballs or chicken fusilli with sun-dried tomatoes and Parmesan-pesto cream sauce.

8. Galactic Grill – If you’re a night owl then this Tomorrowland spot is a nice place to keep in mind.  They offer a fun late-night bites menu that features some pretty interesting treats. Our favorites are the Meteor Potato Bites topped with ground beef, caramelized onions, house sauce and a sharp cheddar cheese sauce or the Spicy Star Clusters featuring crispy chicken bites, over Blue Cheese coleslaw with pickle chips and Buffalo sauce served in a waffle bowl.  Most of the treats on this menu come in at about the $8.00 range.
