Universal Studios to WDW

Sure, Walt Disney World is magical. However, many guests staying on Disney property also enjoy traveling to nearby parks, particularly Universal Studios in Orlando. But what’s the best way to get there? Lucky for you, your Disney Addicts friends have these helpful suggestions!

Option #1: Shuttle Service

Mears Transportation Group offers shuttle service, which is a popular option for many families looking for transfers from Disney’s on-property resorts to Universal Studios. Round trip transportation costs $21 per person (age 12+), $16 per child (age 3-11), and free for children under 3.  Guests can reserve transportation as well as schedule pick-up times by calling Mears directly at 855-4-MEARS-NOW. Mears shuttle service transports many guests who have scheduled similar pick-up times, so be prepared to carpool with families staying at other area resorts. Additionally, Mears schedules pick up times on the hour, so there is less flexibility than with other options.

Option #2: Taxi Service

Some families prefer good ol’ fashioned taxi service to get between their Disney Resort and Universal Studios. There are multiple taxi services in the Orlando area, with Mears Transportation Group leading the pack. Expect one-way taxi fares to cost around $45. Call 855-4-MEARS-NOW or download the Mears Mobile App to schedule taxi service.

Option #3: Get an Uber

Uber has become a transportation phenomenon across the country. This taxi service is fueled by everyday people using their own vehicles to transport passengers to their destinations. Uber is actually so popular in the Orlando area that it’s causing some serious competition for the local taxi companies. If you’ve never “Ubered” before, it’s relatively simple. You’ll need a smartphone to download the Uber app. After setting up an account and linking your credit card as payment, just turn on your location services or enter your pick-up address and select a destination. Uber will generate prices for your party (approximately $18-20 for one-way transportation from your Disney Resort to Universal) and alert you of the Uber driver closest to your pickup location. Uber will also tell you the make and model of car that will pick you up along with your driver’s name. You’ll even have the option of selecting music for your ride!

Option #4: Rental Car

If you’d rather be in charge of your family’s transportation, consider a rental car. Disney’s Car Care Center located near Magic Kingdom Park offers guests the services of Alamo Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental. Families must submit a refundable deposit of the total rental fee upon booking. Daily rates for mid-sized vehicles cost around $45; these rates are subject to change. Call 407-824-3470 ext. 3 (Alamo) or ext. 4 (National Car) for vehicle reservations. Are you wondering how to get to the Car Care Center? Disney has you covered! You can schedule complimentary transportation from your resort to the Car Care Center by calling 407-824-3470 ext. 1. You’ll need to schedule a pickup time and wait outside the main lobby at your resort.
