Q: What is the World Showcase Wine Walk at Epcot?

Top of my list of Disney’s best kept secrets is the World Showcase Wine Walk at Epcot.  You would find details of it online or in park maps so its one of those rare Disney gems that people tend to find out about via word of mouth.  This self-guided tour is perfect for wine lovers that plan on spending a day sampling food and drink from the different countries in the World Showcase and its premise is simple:  You pay in advance for both red and white wines at three different countries (Italy, Germany and France).

In order to participate, guests just need to show up at one of the following Wine Walk locations:

  • Enoteca Castello – Italy
  • Aux Vins de France – France
  • Weinkeller – Germany

At any of three locations, you can ask to participate in the Wine Walk and once you’ve paid $20 per person, each member going on the tour will receive a wine passport which looks like this:

The passport has a list of the various locations you can visit for a sample as well as the selections on offer.  Show up at these locations, present your passport (with receipt) and you will be given a 2 oz glass of both a red wine and white wine at each location.  So that is 6 drinks for $20.00!

The list of wines available at each location may change at any time but last time I participated in the tour they were as follows:

Entoeca Castello – Italy:

  • Castello Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio
  • Rosa Regale

France Aux Vins de France – France:

  • Georges Duboeuf Pouilly Fuisse
  • Chateau Tour de Segur

Weinkeller – Germany:

  • Valckenberf Madonna Spatlese
  • Valckenberf Madonna Liebtraumilch

No substitutions are allowed.  As you visit the various pavilions and sample the wines on offer you will receive a stamp on your passport. When I went on this tour the staff members were all really helpful as well, telling a bit about the history of each of the wines on offer.  At each shop there is also of course the option to buy full bottles of each of the varieties should you find one that you really enjoyed.

Another great perk of the Wine Walk is that guests do not have to sample all of the wines on the day of purchase.  There is no expiration date for the tour so I was able to enjoy a couple of the varieties on my first visit to Epcot and then when I returned to the park a few days later was able to enjoy the rest.

The best thing about the Wine Walk is that its available year round and is a great way to satisfy guests who have missed or are feeling nostalgic about the Food and Wine Festival.  So if you’re into or are curious about wines give this tour a go.  At $20 its not only an affordable option for drinking your way around the World but also teaches you about the history and viticulture that goes into making these Old World Wines something truly special.
