For those visiting Walt Disney World, sometimes Disney’s buses, boats and monorails just don’t cut it. Whether its rushing to get to the parks for opening, heading to another Disney Resort for an evening meal or heading home after a night at Disney’s Boardwalk, its nice to be able to have door-to-door service without the lines and wait times. That’s where Disney’s Minnie Van service comes in! What started last year at only a select handful of Disney Resorts is now being unveiled across an ever increasing list of Disney properties, making it a nice back-up option. To show you just how useful this service can be, here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions about this colorful mode of transportation.
What resorts currently offer the service? As we reported on our sister site Chip and Co. earlier this week, the Minnie Van service was only available at select Disney World deluxe resorts however, this week, the service has now been expanded to include pick-up at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Here’s a list the of the resorts currently offering the service.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
It is expected over time that additional resorts will be added to this list making it a service that will ultimately be available to most onsite guests.
Where will the service take me? The service will take you anywhere on Disney property including other Disney resorts and even to theme parks. The great thing as well is that because its an official Disney service, when heading to Magic Kingdom, instead of getting dropped off at TTC or the Contemporary, the Minnie Vans will drop you off in the same location that the resort buses stop, making it a quick walk to the front gates. The service will also allow you to make one pit stop along the way should you need it.
How much does the service cost? There is one flat fee of $20 (not including tip) to use the Minnie Van service. Depending on traffic, it can make it slightly more expensive than using a normal taxi service however the flat fee can also work to your advantage during peak periods when traffic is heavy. Plus, you get to be whisked around in a red and white polka dotted car!
How do I book? – The service is used via the Lyft app, so you’ll want to make sure that you have the app loaded onto your smart phone if you’d like to organize a pick up. If you run into any problems with being able to use the app stop by your resort front desk and they’ll be able to walk you through the process.
Is there a wait? The several clients I’ve had that have used the service have said that the pick-up isn’t instantaneous like when hailing a cab that might already be on property but that a ride usually showed up in under 10 minutes. However, guests should note that this can change during peak periods so always allow yourselves a bit of extra time if heading to a dining reservation or dinner show.
I’m traveling with a large family, how many people will the cars accommodate? The average Minnie Van can hold up to six guests making it perfect for slightly larger families.
I’m travelling with an infant/toddler are there car seats available? Yes! Great news for those travelling with tiny tots, each of the vans in service comes with 2 car seats. Each of the Cast Members are thoroughly trained on how to install the seats to adhere to safety standards. There’s also ample trunk space for those wanting to bring your strollers along.
Are the vans handicapped accessible? There are a small number of accessible vans as part of the Minnie Van fleet. The vans are able to accommodate a wheelchair or ECV.
Who exactly is driving the car? I know sometimes families when visiting Disney are hesitant to use services like Uber or even taxis because you may be leery about who is driving you around. However, with the Minnie Van service there is peace of mind in knowing that the vehicles are manned by official Disney Cast Members. This means the service provided adheres to Disney’s strict customer service standards.
We here at Disney Addicts think that there’s a lot to love about the Minnie Van service and hope you’ll give it a go during your next visit to the Mouse!
