This Memorial Day we honor our courageous U.S. Military Members who defend our country and protect our freedoms. With all of the sacrifices these servicemen and servicewomen and their families make for the American people, they definitely deserve to be acknowledged. Walt Disney World agrees; and they’d like to thank these service members with some very special benefits. Disney Addicts has all of the information you’ll need to know if you qualify for Military Member Promotions.
Q. Who qualifies for Walt Disney World’s military discounts?
A. All active, retired, or 100% disabled U.S. military personnel including active or retired members of the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) qualify for these special benefits. Military spouses also qualify for these benefits if their spouse is deployed.
Q. What resort discounts are available for military members?
A. All of Disney World’s on-property resorts offer special discounted rates to military families. Disney’s Deluxe Resorts and Villas offer 40% discounts, Disney’s Moderate Resorts & Cabins offer 35% discounts, and Disney’s Value Resorts offer 30% discounts. U.S. military personnel may book up to 3 rooms. They must present their valid U.S. Military ID upon check-in. Guests may also chose to add on one of Disney’s Dining Plans. However, these discounts cannot be combined with other Disney promotions.
Q. What ticket discounts are available for military members?
A. Walt Disney World offers special promotional tickets for military service members and their families. A 5-Day Park Hopper Pass is available for $224 plus tax per person. A 4-Day Park Hopper Pass is available for $209 plus tax per person. Additionally, the Water Park Fun & More option is available for $37 more plus tax. No more than 6 tickets may be purchased, one of which must be used by the service member or his or her spouse.
Q. When are these special military discounts available at Walt Disney World?
A. Military personnel can take advantage of these special room and ticket rates through December 19, 2017. Disney will release 2018 military promotion dates later this year.
Q. What identification is required to qualify for military discounts?
A. Active military members must present a valid U.S. Military ID upon checking in to their resort or activating their tickets at the the parks. Retired military members must present a valid retired U.S. Military ID. Additionally, spouses of currently deployed military members also qualify if they are able to present valid and active U.S. Military IDs. Please note that a DD-214 form will not serve as sufficient identification; only the identifications listed here are accepted.
Q. What is the Shades of Green Resort?
A. Shades of Green is a special Armed Forces Recreation Center Resort (AFRC) located on Disney property near Magic Kingdom Park; it’s only available to military personnel and their families. Although no longer affiliated with Disney, Shades of Green does offer special room rates for members of the U.S. Military. A valid U.S. Military ID must be presented upon check-in.
Q. How can military members reserve their resorts and book tickets?
A. U.S. military personnel can reserve their Walt Disney World vacation package by contacting Disney directly or working with a trusted travel agent. Military members who choose to stay at Shades of Green must make their own accommodations by calling 888-593-2242. Disney Park Tickets must be purchased at a military base or the Shades of Green Resort. Tickets purchased at military bases must be activated at Disney Park’s ticket booths before entry; a valid U.S. Military ID is required at the ticket window for activation.
Q. Are any other benefits available to military members?
A. Yes! Disney’s Memory Maker is available to military personnel for a discounted rate of $84! It must be purchased at the parks, and a valid U.S. Military ID is required.
