Q: What time does Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party start, and when can you get into the park?
A: It’s November 1st and you know what that means in the Disney sphere – its time to set our sights on all the fun holiday happenings coming your way at Walt Disney World this Yuletide Season. With the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party kicking off on November 9th, its time to start planning out your time at the parks. For those attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for the first time, here’s a bit of a rundown regarding logistics.
How early can I enter the park? – For those with a valid Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket, you can enter the parks from 4:00 pm. The ticket serves as park admission so there’s no need to pay for a theme park ticket on party night. However, guests who attempt to enter the park before 4:00 will be expected to present a valid theme park admission ticket as this is considered outwith party hours.
If I don’t have party tickets but will already be at the Magic Kingdom can I stay? No. The park officially closes at 6pm. This is different from the 7 pm closure that happened in years past. Disney is trialling the earlier time this year as a means of streamlining the process and relieving a bit of congestion for those trying to enter the park in the evening. If you don’t have a party ticket, it is possible to stick around for a bit to squeeze in some last-minute souvenir shopping or event to check out the castle lighting that occurs at 6.15. However, Cast Members will start checking bands and wrangling guests toward the exit once the party is in full swing.
What if I have dining reservations at Magic Kingdom during this time? If your dining reservations overlap with the party times, you can stay and finish off your meal. However, those without party tickets that booked Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dining will not be allowed into the park without a valid party ticket as specified on Disney’s website.
That seems like an awful short park day for those that don’t have party tickets. It is true, if you want a full day at the Magic Kingdom but don’t plan on attending the party than I advise adjusting your schedule so that you are visiting the Magic Kingdom on another day. However, for those whose days are already set in stone, it is worth noting that Magic Kingdom will open an hour earlier (8am on party nights).
Are tickets still available for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party? Yes. So far only one party night has sold out. The dates are as follows:
November 9 (SOLD OUT), 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 26 and 28
December 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 22
Tickets range in price from $89 – $109 per adult depending on dates. Tickets can be purchased online via My Disney Experience.
