What will make the Magic Kingdom Magical for a 2 year old?

I have been asked recently what things you can do at the Magic Kingdom to make the trip even more magical for a 2-year-old…well, honestly, the list is endless!  The Magic Kingdom is the ultimate park for a 2-year-old (or any age in my humble opinion!)!  There is so much for them to do and see that it is hard to limit the magic!  The best suggestion that I can give is to have an itinerary or at least a general plan of attack for your day(s) at the park and honestly, calling in a Disney professional would be your best bet.  A good travel professional can help you make a plan including dining reservations and FastPasses so you won’t miss out on anything and they won’t charge a penny for their services!

If staying on-site, which I strongly urge, you will have the benefit of Magic Hours which are either early entry to the park or an extended closing time.  Either way, you get an hour in the park without the general public which means less crowds and smaller lines which is huge when traveling with a toddler!  So the first “must do” to enhance a 2-year-old’s Magic Kingdom adventure is making reservations at the Crystal Palace for a character dining experience with Winnie the Pooh and his pals!  The look on their face will be priceless and you will have an opportunity to take a ton of pictures while the characters visit your table individually!  Still a family favorite even though my kids are all older now!

The next must do is to head back to Fantasyland for all of the magical fun that it holds!  It has been recently refurbished and updated and your little one will be thrilled to ride on The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan’s Flight not to mention It’s a Small World and Dumbo!  There are a number of other rides that are perfect for a 2-year-old too but I would suggest getting to this part of the park as early as possible because as the day goes on the lines can get out of hand.  I would strongly suggest setting up FastPasses…this is another area that a travel professional would be able to help with!

The final two things that I would suggest for a 2-year-old would be parades and shows!!  Both are bright and colorful and have amazing Disney music and dancing!  What more can a 2 year old want!  For this part of your planning the park map will be an extremely useful tool.  It is important to plan your day out so you can make the most of your time but make sure that you plan some down time during the day as well.  In order to enjoy the day, your 2 year old will need to be well rested, so make sure that you plan on quiet and nap times, but most of all just have fun!!

So what do you think….is there something specific that you would suggest doing with a toddler that I missed?  Leave a comment below and share your knowledge with your fellow DA’s!
