5 Reasons to Stay On Property at Walt Disney World 1

Families visiting Walt Disney World have many options when it comes to resorts. When considering the multitude of possibilities, some families wonder if they should stay on-site or off-site. Your friends at Disney Addicts are excited to share these 5 reasons why we always choose to stay on Disney property when we travel to the happiest place on Earth!

5. Complimentary Transportation

If you choose to stay on-site at Walt Disney World, you are automatically entitled to FREE transportation, both to and from the airport and to and from the parts to your resort. Disney’s unique Magical Express Transportation system allows guests the convenience of disembarking their aircraft and boarding one of Disney’s air-conditioned motorcoaches located on the first floor of Orlando International Airport. If that’s not enough convenience, guests who register for Magical Express Transportation will receive special luggage tags to attach to their checked luggage. What’s the perk? Guests’ luggage is magically whisked away from the airport and delivered directly their resort room! As for transportation at the resorts, on-site guests receive free transportation to and from the parks! Several deluxe resorts offer boat service or monorail service with all resorts offering bus service to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride! Would you rather drive to the parks with your own vehicle? No problem! If you are an on-site guest, parking is free!

4. MagicBands

Magicbands are just that – MAGIC! When you choose to stay on property, you’ll receive a MagicBand, which becomes your key to EVERYTHING at Walt Disney World. Use your MagicBand as your room key, your credit card, and your park tickets; and those are just a few benefits of MagicBands! You’ll even get to customize your MagicBand with your name and color choice by visiting mydisneyexperience.com. Your MagicBands will be shipped to your home before your travel dates. Visiting Disney’s water parks? No worries! MagicBands are waterproof, so you can keep them on even when diving into some fun at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. We think you’ll find that you might not want to take off your Magic Band once you’re back home!

3. Advanced Reservations

Good news! When staying on-property, you can make dining and FastPass+ reservations sooner than guests staying off-site! Some of Disney’s dining reservations can be hard to come by; but if you are an on-site guest, you can make your dining reservations for your entire vacation 180 days before your trip whereas offsite guests must book them one day at a time.   On the day your dining window opens, simply log onto mydisneyexperience.com starting at 6:00 AM EST or you can call 407-WDW-DINE beginning at 7:00 AM EST. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan (another perk exclusive to on-property guests), you can use your dining credits at the restaurants in which you choose to dine! Along with dining reservations, you’ll probably want to consider your FastPass+ options! Many of Disney’s magical attractions offer FastPass+, which allows you to skip the general queue and ride your favorite attractions faster! Disney resort guests can make FastPass+ reservations 60 days before their travel dates in comparison with those guests staying off-site, who have to wait until 30 days before travel. As many repeat Disney visitors know, it can be challenging to acquire FastPass+ reservations for the most popular attractions; but when staying on-site, you’ll be first in line (pun intended) to reserve your FastPasses! Visit mydisneyexperience.com at your 60 day mark to schedule your FastPass+ experiences.

2. Extra Magic Hours

Want to go to the parks earlier? Or perhaps you’d rather stay after hours? You can if you’re an on-site guest! Each day, Disney schedules extra magic morning hours and/or extra magic evening hours for specific parks. Only guests staying at Disney resorts can take advantage of this perk, which means lower crowds and more time to enjoy the magic of the parks! Visit Disney World’s website for the daily schedules and discover which parks are offering extra magic hours.

1. Live Inside the Magic 24/7

What’s the best reason of all to stay on-property at Walt Disney World? The magic! Disney’s resorts are superbly themed to immerse guests in the Disney experience during their entire stay! From the lush tropical landscape of Disney’s Polynesian Resort to the retro fun of Disney’s Pop Century Resort, guests staying on-site can head to their resort “homes” each night for more Disney magic!

There are so many perks of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort! Some guests worry about the affordability of staying on-property, but Disney offers many promotions throughout the year that can make staying on-site more affordable than staying off-site! We think you’ll LOVE staying at one of Disney’s resorts during your next magical vacation!
