Mobile Ordering

Q: Is it true that at Disney World you can now order your counter service meals in advance using My Disney Experience?

A: With the opening of Pandora: The World of Avatar in less than a month, this is a question I’ve been asked a lot this week.  It is true that Disney announced earlier this month that they will begin offering mobile ordering at a handful of select counter service properties throughout Walt Disney World.  Though details are still a bit sketchy.  Here’s what we know so far.

If any of you have been lucky enough to nab a breakfast or lunch reservation at Magic Kingdom’s Be Our Guest restaurant, you already know how mobile ordering works.  Prior to your reservation, you are able to visit My Disney Experience where there is a “Place Your Order” option.  This allows each member of your family to pre-select the items that you’d like off of the menu and it gives you a running tally of the costs.  That means with Be Our Guest that when you show up to your meal, Disney uses your MagicBand or a magic rose to track where you are in the restaurant and your order is delivered directly to your table.

Disney World Mobile Ordering

The new system being unveiled at Satu’li Canteen: Pandora: The World of Avatar’s new Quick Service Dining restaurant is largely the same.   Starting in late May, guests will be able to make their dining selections also using My Disney Experience.  When you arrive at the Canteen ready to dine, you simply click the “I’m Here” button to let kitchen staff know that you are available to pick up your meal.  You will receive notification when your food is ready to be picked up at the designated “Mobile Ordering Pick-up” window.

Initially, mobile ordering will only be available to those who wish to pay for their purchases online using a credit card.  Guests on the Disney Dining Plan hoping to use quick service credits will need to wait in the regular lines.

As we reported earlier this month, Satu’li Canteen will be the first of many Quick Service restaurants that Disney World hopes to offer mobile ordering for.   Other restaurants rumored to eventually be taking part include:

Magic Kingdom:

  • Columbia Harbour House
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  • Liberty Inn
  • Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
  • Pinocchio Village Haus
  • Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant
  • Tortuga Tavern

Epcot:

  • Electric Umbrella

Hollywood Studios:

  • ABC Commissary
  • Backlot Express

Animal Kingdom:

  • Flame Tree Barbecue
  • Pizzafari
  • Restaurantosaurus

Disney Springs:

  • D-Luxe Burger

Disney has not released official word as of yet as to when these restaurants will officially being offering mobile ordering.  Guests are encouraged to watch this space for further details.
